In the world of fashion, almost everyone has dared to find a stimulus in another’s creative work. How many of us, though, can claim to be a fully-fledged fashion deity? Lea Muses, founder and designer of The House of Muses, takes this title as if she herself were the daughter of the Greek God Zeus.

The House of Muses, a contemporary accessories label created in 2003, is expected to be the next big thing in all things fashion. In fact, some may say it’s already taken the title. What began as a talented trio made up of a model, photographer, and a choreographer equipped with a fierce trunk of “wild props and accessories” used on various editorials, has fused into a full-line of incomparabl ... READ MORE >>

This article is from our RSS feed - read the full version at: House of Muses - Luxury Handbags by Lea Muses
Grooveeffect - Urban Style, Streetwear, and Culture

From the spring 2008 Heatherette line to retail store Anthropologie, eco-fashion can be found in every nook and cranny across coasts. If you think back, let’s say, 10 years ago, no tarot card, crystal ball, or star positioning could have predicted the eco fashion craze we see today. Unless that is, you’re L.A. based SuperLuckyCat Designer and Co-Founder, Crystal Butler.

In 2000, Butler decided to turn a hobby into a full-fledged business. Butler, a thrift store fanatic, spent her college years at the Fashion Institute of Technology turning thrift store finds into fine threads.
SWIMS - THE MODERN GALOSH

I love the rain. As long as I’m inside, of course. Rainy days inevitably lead to messy hair, sticky air, and the ultimate question: what shoes do I wear? Your Chucks get soaked, you don’t want to take the new LE’s out in this weather, and your satin Lanvin flats are a total no-go. Our solution? SWIMS, the innovative shoe line from Norwegian Johan R. (going by a name like this, the guy’s gotta be cool). Dubbed “modern galoshes” by the creator himself, SWIMS now boasts a simple ballerina flat for women that works perfect for those rainy days.

Hunter boots work fine and well, but once you’re inside, do you really want to stomp around in those things? SWIMS’ flats are available in enough colors that you may want to land yourself more than o ... READ MORE >>

This article is from our RSS feed - read the full version at: SWIMS - The Modern Galosh
Grooveeffect - Urban Style, Streetwear, and Culture

GIVENCHY JELLY GLADIATOR - THROWBACK OF THE SEASON!

Remember when you were a little girl, running around in those jelly sandals? They were clear, squishy, and most of all, cheap. Times have changed, and when Marc Jacobs churned out jelly gladiator sandals last year, everyone was a little stunned. They were cute, and while they boasted a hefty price tag, the frenzy began. This year, Chanel has come out with a glittered jelly sandal, adorned with a giant plastic flower and all, but the real star is Givenchy’s take on the old classic.

Utilizing the ultra-trendy silhouette of the moment (the gladiator sandal), the French fashion house took things a step further by marrying the design with the rubber material. Available in white, pink, and black, the shoe has the subtle Givenchy logo up front, ... READ MORE >>

This article is from our RSS feed - read the full version at: Givenchy Jelly Gladiator - Throwback of the Season!
Grooveeffect - Urban Style, Streetwear, and Culture

From The Valley To The Stars is the latest album from Swedish musician El Perro Del Mar. The name, which means “The Dog of the Sea” in Spanish, is the stage name of Sarah Assbring. Assbring, who remains the only official member of the band, began her musical endeavors just over three years ago in Gothenburg on Hybris Records. Her particular brand of lo-fi indie pop gained EPDM critical acclaim for her self titled release, and a deal with UK label Memphis Industries. As of 2007, EPMD is working with Licking Fingers on all Swedish releases, including this year’s “From The Valley To The Stars”, which dropped in the US on April 22nd.

The album’s opening track, “Jubilee”, sets the tone for the rest of the album.
INTERVIEW WITH JULIA GRIEVE FROM PRELOVED - A VINTAGE CLOTHING LABEL

Inspired by the threads of yore, Preloved founder Julia Grieve is a master at finding vintage pieces that can be reworked into something modern. Her desire to create something new from something old is an idea that has caught on like wildfire in the past few years. There’s always an element of surprise when shopping vintage and Preloved takes that one step further, reminding us that the best things always have a story.

Tell us the story of Preloved. How it came to be and where the idea came from.

It was always something I did (rework vintage). I loved vintage clothing, and loved the fact [that] I was getting a one of a kind piece of clothing.
